Futaba Sakura

Biography.

➤ Her story.
Futaba is the only child of Wakaba Isshiki, a prominent cognitive researcher. She retains only the vaguest memories of her father, as he left the pair very early on; Wakaba kept her own surname, and never mentioned him again. For her entire life, Futaba looked to Sojiro Sakura, her mother's close friend, as a father figure. Futaba and her mother had a close, very loving relationship; though Wakaba struggled to balance her work with her responsibilities as a single mother, she always did the best she could for her daughter's sake.

On August 21st, two years before the events of the game, Futaba's mother died under suspicious circumstances; supposedly, a maternal psychosis caused her to commit suicide by throwing herself into traffic. In truth, her death was orchestrated by members of the Conspiracy: Wakaba suffered a mental shutdown caused by Goro Akechi, which allowed his employers to forge a suicide note and seize Wakaba's research. The note was read aloud in front of Futaba and her relatives, in which it was claimed that Wakaba regretted giving birth to her daughter and had destroyed all of her research.

Devastated both by her mother's death and by the supposed revelation that she had been an unwanted child, Futaba fell into a deep depression. She developed paranoid delusions and hallucinations, usually of her mother and other relatives telling her how worthless she was. The guilt she felt drove her to become a shut-in, eventually becoming so consumed by her self-loathing that she loses her will to live. Futaba was passed around to several uncaring relatives, including her uncle Youji Isshiki, who neglected her to the point of not allowing her to sleep on a bed or bathe. She was adopted by her mother's friend, Sojiro Sakura, once he learned of her situation.

After learning the identity of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts through the bug she planted at Leblanc, Futaba strikes a deal with them: if they steal her heart, she will help with with their problem with Medjed. As they navigate through the Palace formed by her distorted desire to die, Futaba ends up entering it as well and awakening to her own Persona, helping the team defeat the cognitive Sphinx. After retaliating against Medjed and forming a bond with the others, Futaba agrees to join the group, determined to find the truth behind her mother's death.

➤ Her personality.
Prior to awakening to her Persona, Futaba was extremely reclusive, hardly ever leaving her room. She abandons school and is completely disconnected from the rest of the world, only communicating through online media; this lifestyle was enabled by Sojiro, who felt guilty for not protecting her from the trauma she faced after her mother's death. As a result, Futaba was left alone to fester in her own self-loathing and depression.

After joining the team, she begins to change; though she still has a hard time being outside, she manages to frequent Leblanc and even help out there. In public, she tends to hide behind one of her friends to avoid being seen, particularly the protagonist. After opening up to them a bit more, she begins displaying her more childish and mischievous side, coming off as bright, playful, and cheerful despite her lingering anxiety.

Futaba is the hacker and navigator of the group, assisting them on missions by collecting information on their targets, navigating them through areas, and providing support in battles. In keeping with her personality, she remains in the background during their activities as Phantom Thieves, yet she fulfills her role with an unprecedented determination.

Headcanons.

➤ Futaba is 15. Her birthday is February 19th.
➤ Responds to either the codename Navi or Oracle (I personally use Navi).
➤ She suffers from severe social anxiety and will occasionally have panic attacks if left alone in public.
➤ She has terrible eating and sleeping habits, on both ends of the spectrum (eat and sleep either too much or too little).
➤ Occasionally she will suffer from insomnia and be unable to fall asleep, or will be woken up by nightmares.
➤ She's a big fan of video games; shooter and horror games in particular.
➤ Futaba also enjoys watching anime and has an extensive manga and doujinshi collection. She's fairly active on online forums and message boards.
➤ She has a tendency to pull pranks and practical jokes at her teammates' expense, particularly the boys, but she does it with love. ♡
➤ Although she warms up to her female friends very quickly and becomes very affectionate with them, she can come off as a bit colder (mainly through much more teasing) to her male friends.
➤ She sees Akira as a big brother, and Makoto as an older sister.
➤ She has a photographic memory, meaning that she can recall visual information with great detail.
➤ Futaba absolutely adores animals (nearly every kind), and becomes very distressed at the mere mention of an animal being mistreated.

Rules are as follows. (yes, they're kind of a lot, but please bear with me.)
➤ No lewd. Like, at all. I refuse to rp anything past the occasional dirty joke, so don't even ask. If you are a lewd account and/or post lewd art, you will be softblocked.
➤ Please do not pressure me for replies. I do this for fun, not as a job. If I feel pressured for a reply, I will most likely drop the thread. (A gentle reminder is fine, as I may have simply missed your reply.)
➤ Do not jump into threads or SL's uninvited. This means replying to a thread I already have going with someone else, or inserting your character into a group SL without being invited. If you wish to join, please ask through DM's.
➤ Non-sourcers and art reposters will be softblocked. Just retweet/source the art if you can. If you can't, don't use the art. It's not hard.
➤ Do not jump into my DM's to rp. Obviously my DM's are always open to plot or just to chat, but I'm not comfortable with rping in DM's without being asked first.
➤ I am not multiverse. I will not follow or rp with any accounts that do not belong to the Persona 5 verse or any of the other Persona games.
➤ No godmodding. It's just not fun. If you're unsure if what you're doing is godmodding, be sure to ask!

➤ Crack rp is fine with me. I will partake in it a lot, especially since it fits the character. Sometimes they even lead to serious SL's!
